Sometimes its hard to believe I get to live the life I do. If you’re already over my impractical optimism, you might want to get off this ride–because I am pretty sure it isn’t stopping anytime soon. I am settled in my new Los Angeles home, finally! Everyone knows how in love I was with my first apartment, and somehow I’ve managed to upgrade. (Pictures coming soon!) I mean, I get to watch the sunset over Downtown LA from my balcony every night! Magic. I’ve also been putting my creative mind to work. My first children’s book is in the illustration process. And I’ve already started collaborating on another book series with a dear friend. On top of that I’m finally getting around to wrapping a script I started some years back. With all these balls rolling, no doubt that I will soon be able to make some serious progress on a major idea I want to share soon with the world. And unrelated, but totally related: do any of you fellow Los Angelenos know the best place to get loose leaf tea? Thanks millions.

New year. Old rug. I have high hopes for this year. Maybe it’s been the multiple people from various walks of life that have been telling me twenty-five is a great year. Or maybe it’s because my recent relocation has inspired and motivated me beyond all comprehension. Regardless of the reason, this is going to be an amazing year.

I do not understand why there are men lurking around alleys at eight in the morning. And I also don’t understand why they bring popcorn to those alleys! Although, I’m sure they are probably wondering what in the world is a girl doing in the rain at eight am… wearing heels… carrying a tripod… dressed like an extra from Grease 2. My life is great. On a separate note, do me a solid and ‘like’ this page! We work hard, be our friend! Thanks a million! Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but my website is being made over (under?). It’s a work in process, considering I have to do it myself, and I’m no coder. Anyway, thoughts? Savvy?

I love being able to justify new clothes. This dress was made possible thanks to my good friends’ wedding. My self portraits aren’t very representative of how beautiful the upper portion of this dress is. I feel like a lady!

So what does a girl do when she’s starting to feel uninspired by her wardrobe? Easy! Cut up her old white button-downs and turn them into circle shirts. And then dig through her house pant drawer. I’m used to getting looks from people as I walk down the street, so I suppose I have to make a spectacle of myself now and again. At least all of us fashion insiders know what’s up!

Here is part deux of post swap… left over photos from fur week! Check out the rest at Sarah of Pandora’s Box blog. I am very pleased with the results of mine and Sarah’s outfit experiment. It’s interesting to see how two different people style a look based around one concept–cropped (faux)fur in this case. Sarah does dark, enigmatic rocker with so much ease! And me, well I’m obviously deeply inspired by spring’s monochromatic look. I’m curious now to see how you guys wear this trend, send photos, links etc!

a) I don’t wear perfume, instead all of my scarves and knits are infused with incense. (see item b)

b) I am obsessed with sandalwood/patchouli incense.

c) Throw a literary reference into the conversation and I’m intrigued.

d) Throw a mythological reference into the conversation and I’m yours.

e) Red bell peppers go on everything.

f) I find train rides very romantic and adventurous.

g) Brian Wilson trumps Beatles.

h) I am overly-competitive (to put it lightly) when it comes to Scrabble.

i think like a Vonnegut novel when I’m tired.

Mythologize Me

I’m building the life I want for myself and I finally found my vintage silk leopard shirt! Okay the latter may seem trivial when talking about my life, but I’m trying to take pleasure in everything I can (small included). I really love my life and what I do though! I get to dress people, go on buying trips, make store windows look beautiful, take photos, write (!), scout for artists, the list goes on. I’m at a point that this is all I want to do. I’m willing to sacrifice friendships, socializing or free time if it stands between me and my future–or if any of those things become a distraction or unnecessary stress. I’m at a good point. I think maybe its that thing they call adulthood?

I may be taking this whole grunge look too far. Beanies and oversized parkas every day. Or maybe I can justify my seemingly languorous attitude towards dressing with the fact that I am wearing the most incredible fur collar. I realize that the whole real vs faux fur has caused a bit of a squabble, to put it lightly. But this piece belonged to my great grandmother and generations before that I’m sure. It’s family history, and it means a great deal to me, so yes I will keep wearing it despite the brouhaha it may cause. Curious, where do you guys stand on faux versus real?
