Ebay is trouble for me. Especially with seller’s like playground vintage. Oh internet why do you offer so many temptations to my meager, sequined wallet. After seeing the Mo’s knit dress, I’m on a hunt for crocheted dresses. (It seems I go through this phase every summer though.)
There has been far too much negativity on my part over the past couple of weeks. Yes, bad things happen, but I can handle them much better than I have been. My life is an absolute joy, despite some missteps. I’ve closed some pretty bad chapters that haunted my past. I am finally working towards the life I really want—the creative life. I’m revamping Squarectomy and hopefully reaching out to a bigger audience, which I couldn’t be more excited about. There’s a visual merchandising job that is becoming a very real possibility. I’m making music again. I love all these creative outlets I have opening up. So thanks to all of you for the support during Squarectomy’s first year!
Shoes and Dress from F21 (you’d think they were sponsoring me, please do F21 if you’re reading this!). Bangles from H&M. Watch is Thrifted. Ring is Vintage.
Mo lives in Los Angeles, gets her hands on the greatest designer pieces, is an entrepreneur, and goes to cinespia (which if you aren’t aware, may be one the coolest ways to spend your summer nights in Los Angeles). Be my friend Mo.
Hey guys and gals! I’m Melissa and here I am! Thought long and hard about what my first entry would be and to tell you the truth I got nothin’! HOWEVER! don’t fret because I’ve decided to talk about how excited I am about winter I am…I know, I know, it’s July…but if I don’t start thinking about winter now I’ll never get through the summer! if I can disagree with Grace on one thing it would be that summer isn’t all she cracks it up to be…I hate sweating and my skin breaks out and Y-U-C-K! That being said, let me tell some junk about me. I’m 23 and actually Grace’s sister-in-law, love her to death and can’t wait to get started on this blog! I don’t know a BUNCH about fashion but I know what I love and I’m am a big fan of talking! More to come is music, photo shoots and we are hoping to start a video blog of fashion boutique reviews…I hope you all enjoy having me around as much as I’m going to enjoy being here!
Does it feel as if all I’ve been doing lately is saying ‘woe is me’? I hope not because woe is me, I’m having issues with the technical side of this site. As if you can’t tell… All these updates from WordPress have gone and sent my laborious formatting efforts off into cyberspace. Lucky me that I may know a person or two who is more tech savvy than myself! Changing subjects, I’ve been getting more serious about music, even started a little side project! The sound we’re aiming for is a bit ‘Oh Brother, Where Art Thou’. To be premiered soon. This whole making my blog more personal is a bit trying. I mean really who wants to listen to me ramble on about myself! So instead I’ll just post photos of me….
Vintage Slip. Peacock Necklace gifted by gunbarellbutterfly. Bowler by H&M.
Also, if you could spare a few moments I’d greatly appreciate any support for a Chictopia contest I’ve entered! Winning won’t bring me my Macbook, but it will certainly make me smile. Vote here!
After all the hoopla over Mac books, and my presupposition that Apples are just better, I’m holding out. So I’ll have to continue to steal moments with other people’s computers when I can. This may not be so bad seeing as there is a change in the wind—and that wind will be sweeping through Squarectomy in the next couple of days! A vivacious young lady, you can call her Melissa, will be joining the ultra elite ranks of Squarectomy. Look out for her first post in the extremely near future!
Transitioning back to fashion, I’m so happy to see the sun. Summer in California means bathing suit time. And isn’t every girl at liberty to purchase as many suits as she wants? Here’s my pick in a mind-baffling array of colors. (I have a crush on Zimmerman.)
It seems the world wants me to go buy an apple! This is the second time this year I’ve had to mourn the loss of a computer. And most unfortunately, the serious lack of funds prevents me from going out and buying a pretty new laptop. Instead, it looks like another PC for me.
So what else I have been up to besides kicking dirt over things now gone. Well school, a little bit of music making and an even smaller bit of modeling for friends. Results you ask? Gladly!
I was in a mood today, maybe the gorgeous, albeit hot, weather. Regardless of the cause of said mood, I felt like snapping some of the things I find beautiful in my living quarters. And on a closing note, the last photo is one of the reasons I am a firm believer in hand washing your laundry. There’s something very romantic about underthings hanging in the breeze. (Although, I’m sure the bigger reason I hand wash, is because I’m irrationally afraid of the washing machine chomping my clothes into bits.)
Let’s talk about music. I know, I know, you’re thinking ‘but this is a fashion blog’. And here’s my counter to that! Watch anyway!
He’s fun. He’s dapper. He’s clever. The video is an aesthetic marvel. This guy works hard for what the wants, so be to sure to tell him if you just fell in love. And if you’re local to Los Angeles, do yourself a favor and track him down at shows.
I wouldn’t dare post these photos due to the serious lack of quality, BUT I am majorly enamored with these heels. And seeing as I didn’t have the tenacity to steal them from my aunt, there are is no other photographic evidence of their existence. Also, look at me wearing bell bottoms! From Target! That only cost $5!
Pants from Target. Jeffrey Campbell Heels. F21 Tee.
