Trying this new thing called, be happy all the time.

are you a hypnotist.

Sometimes I get ready far too fast and then pass the time (and boost my ego) with a photobooth sesh.

And sometimes I dress like a silhouette.

And sometimes I make super short posts.

So safe.

its been a minute.

You know those moments when life kicks in and so many things seem moot or trivial?  Well take that moment and amplify it until you think your brain is about to blow.  And that is my summer.

First summer in Los Angeles.  Complete!  And boy was it a doozy.  I have met more people whose stories, ambitions and life dreams are inspiring (to put in the simplest, most concise manner–although the abridged version may be too boiled down…) in the past three months, than I have in the past twenty-five years of my life.  I have seen some of the most beautiful sights, small and grand alike!  My own ambitions and dreams have been challenged, forgotten, and then reinstated in the most dramatic and permanent way possible.  I have met one of the most beautiful souls embodied in a fellow new Los Angeleno embodied in my soon-t0-be business partner!  Oh, and I’ve cut off all my hair.  Basically, life in LA is gorgeous.

I am really excited to be back in the swing of things.  (And to have survived the mad whirlwind–not that the forecast is going to change to anything less thrilling…)  I’m even more excited to share it with all of you!  Welcome home!

i dream in mohair, velvet, and wool.

Here’s the problem with having a place to yourself, it becomes a bit of an obsession at first. Now I realize that if that’s the magnitude of my issues, I am pretty well off.  True. Regardless, my apartment has invaded my dreams! Even when I sleep I’m plagued with all the possibly ways to furnish and decorate my home. They make for some gorgeous dreams though. I’m itching to start a little art project similar to that last image now. I think it’s high time I add carpentry and woodworking to my roster of (un)necessary skills.

my unusual friend.

It’s been a month.  And what a month.  Everything feels new.  I’ve been living a bit like a transient for the past few months.  And it was beginning to get out of control.  I felt like I could never keep up.  Things are finally starting to become somewhat normal, or normal according to my standard anyway.  No more subletting, or housesitting, I officially have my own place in Los Angeles!  Some regularity!  And no more suitcases!  Subsequently, my style has had to adapt to my nomadic lifestyle.  It’s been all bodysuits and slip dresses.  And hey, this short hair style is more justified than ever.

lets start over.

So I’ve disappeared for a month.  Terribly sorry about that.  A bit of family and personal things that needed my attention.  Life seems to get in the way of itself sometimes.  Speaking of life, mine is going to change.  And not just in those little ways that it tends to do everyday.  But in a major way.  Major enough to be taking me out of the country at the end of this year.  It all starts with Lake Palau.  Let’s talk in the now though.  My dad got a new toy that I very much want to steal from him before I leave.  Mamiya RZ67.  It’s gorgeous.  And it produces some gorgeous images.   Also, a very much belated thank you Lola Paige for letting me play in this adorable eyelet romper!

youlagy.

It’s a little sad how shut off from everything we can be.  Because in all actuality, there is inspiration to be drawn from damn near everything.  I suppose our eyes are just shut half the time.  I’m trying to stay aware of this and be more turned on to my surroundings.  With time I will be better.   Speaking of time passing and things progressing (that’s what I was speaking about, right?) I’ve been ‘researching’ other successful bloggers and trying to find the secret.  Well let me speak of Rumi, since she is one of the most successful.  I mean if she’s recognizable by her first name only… well you know what I’m getting at.  I went three years back on her site, to the very beginning.  Watching her transformation and style evolution was extraordinary.  She really is just like the rest of us, she just persevered and kept at it.  She made something of herself.   That experience has reenergized me.  The secret, oh yes!  Look for it in an upcoming post.  And now some images that I find inspirational, so should you…

pancakes for two.

I’ve created a monster!  Well I guess a writing monster isn’t all that scary, so maybe monster it isn’t the correct term.  I’m feeling unapologetic though, so I wont take it back!  I’ve got all these article ideas I’m generating and implementing.  Being paid to look at street style photos from NYFW and then dissecting the recurring themes, kind of a dream.  And now the next dream is to get to the next Fashion Week!  My bags are packed!  Seriously, LET’S GO!

golden years.

I don’t just work all the time.  I know how to let lose and cut a rug on occasion.  And I figured maybe it’s time to get a tad more personal and let you in behind the scenes.  The candid moments of my life.  Actually, this is all just an excuse to show off this gorgeous sweater I’ve had sitting in my closet for years.  I don’t know much about it other than my mom wore it growing up and I managed to kidnap it from her.  Also, the blue stuff all over my face, that’s paint.  I’m not big on makeup, but that doesn’t mean that I think blue smeared everywhere is a look either.  There was a live communal acrylic painting happening and apparently when people drink they want to give me ‘war paint’.  Ps. I’m aware that I look like an anime character sometimes.  Life is good.

the stars of track and field.

I finally did it.  Well I did it a week ago, but here’s the first of the photos with new hair!  What do you think, does the short hair suit me?  On to more important things!  The very talented Eric Johnson and I did a little shoot to avoid the Superbowl Sunday festivities.  I hope you enjoy!  Also check out his work.
