How do you justify wearing lingerie like a dress? Easy Doc Marten boots. Okay maybe not so easy. I’m sure I’m just searching for a justification to wear pretty things around town. Funny, because you guys have heard me ramble on about how anti-girl I am, how it’s taken me nearly twenty-five years to get into florals, so forth and blah blah blah. Yet, whenever I go into vintage stores the first section I run to is lingerie. I just think old slips are the most beautiful thing! And before I write an ode to lingerie, I will stop and let these photos be my advocate. PS. I’m pretty much nauseatingly elated about being accepted as an EIU editor! If you will, please read my first article and lay your feedback on me. Thanks dears!

All those sheer maxis on the Spring Runways did a number to me. And frankly, I’m tired of waiting! I found this one six weeks ago at the Wasteland in Santa Monica. Ruffled at the hem, ditsy florals, translucent (everyone knows I’m a sucker for this), high-waisted. Basically, checks every point on my list for the perfect Spring skirt. So what are you guys dying to wear come Spring?

It’s funny that now that I’m ‘technically unemployed’ (read: full-time freelancer) I have less time than ever. Not entirely true, same amount of time I suppose, just the amount of time working vs play is tipping the scales in favor of work. I don’t mind really, work is like play for me most of the time. It’s been nice though having time in the afternoons to play around with capturing light through a lens. Oh and how could I forget the leisurely lunches I’ve been able to enjoy sitting outside of a sidewalk cafe. A good book, good food, and excellent people watching. Life is good. Is anyone getting tired of me saying that yet?

New year. Old rug. I have high hopes for this year. Maybe it’s been the multiple people from various walks of life that have been telling me twenty-five is a great year. Or maybe it’s because my recent relocation has inspired and motivated me beyond all comprehension. Regardless of the reason, this is going to be an amazing year.

So what have I been doing for the past two weeks? Well I’ve been living in oversized knit sweaters and obsessing over ‘technically bad’ photographs. I guess I’ve always been a fan of photography, but until Squarectomy and the need to master (I use that word very loosely) self-portraits, it has only been an ignorant interest. Now I’m at the point I get to fall in love everyday. Whether it be with one brilliant photo, or one brilliant artist. Oh but on to the ‘technically bad’ photography! Light leaks, sun flare, overexposure, film grain. Once you know the rules, it is so lovely to unabashedly violate them.

I do not understand why there are men lurking around alleys at eight in the morning. And I also don’t understand why they bring popcorn to those alleys! Although, I’m sure they are probably wondering what in the world is a girl doing in the rain at eight am… wearing heels… carrying a tripod… dressed like an extra from Grease 2. My life is great. On a separate note, do me a solid and ‘like’ this page! We work hard, be our friend! Thanks a million! Also, I don’t know if anyone noticed, but my website is being made over (under?). It’s a work in process, considering I have to do it myself, and I’m no coder. Anyway, thoughts? Savvy?

I feel like since I work in the fashion industry, nobody can tell me that this is not clothes. And especially since I raced up rocks in order to beat my camera’s self timer! What we do for art and fashion.

I love being able to justify new clothes. This dress was made possible thanks to my good friends’ wedding. My self portraits aren’t very representative of how beautiful the upper portion of this dress is. I feel like a lady!

Apologies for my short hiatus! Between work, two of my very best friends’ wedding and the holidays, my schedule has been a bit demanding. But I’m back with enough photos to overload all of you who have stuck around. Speaking of holidays, how was everyone’s Turkey day?
Now its time to turn the spotlight onto someone else! I’ve basically got a quasi crush on Lily Melrose. In a completely harmless way of course. The girl is not only a snazzy dresser, but she’s got the creative bug. On her blog llymlrs, she incorporates her design work. It’s hard not to love people that are exercising their creative prowess. Be sure to check out her blog/style/work.

So what does a girl do when she’s starting to feel uninspired by her wardrobe? Easy! Cut up her old white button-downs and turn them into circle shirts. And then dig through her house pant drawer. I’m used to getting looks from people as I walk down the street, so I suppose I have to make a spectacle of myself now and again. At least all of us fashion insiders know what’s up!
